That distribution map would indicate they are wide spread in Tassie. I'm surprised by the big population in Central Aus. Didn't realise there was that much "closed canopy forest" between Darwin and Adelaide.

Didn't I read another thread recently where they had been sited in the Tyndalls?

No- those are Drop Bogans. They're all over Tasmania.

I've had a lucky escape from one of these on the OT. I was luckily carrying my ice axe and so was able to fend it off. Very scary.
