Does anyone play music in a group or just casually by themselves? I play drums and have been for the past 10 years. I play with a folk band band called Thieves.

I play some fingerstyle guitar and have been learning a few yann tierson songs on piano recently.
Can't take them out in the bush, though I've often wished for a guitar to strum at many huts. They could have a sticker on them saying 'no stairway' haha.

Haha, I feel your pain of not being able to play while on walks. Drums aren't the most suitable instrument to lug around
Maybe I should learn how to play my harmonica properly.

I play the Eeb tuba in a brass band, not real suitable for walking with either. Though i must say the natural acoustics provided half way up Mt Ossa last week made me want to give it a try

A tenor sax would sound amazing off the edge of Mt Ossa on a good day..
Honestly, how long do you think a guitar would last in Pelion hut if you bought a few sets of strings? Guess some people would hate on it, myself included depending on what people played on it.

Talking about music and Mt Ossa brought back to mind this story related in a YouTube vide of Christina Sonnemann's 2006 Overland Track trip carrying a small celtic harp which she played on top of Mt Ossa. Amazing story!

Nah, we reside in Launceston and have never managed to get down to the Birssi. I have heard it rumoured that there is another Thieves that come from Hobart though. So hmm..
