Please be careful this coming winter
There are rumours that these elusive creatures are becoming more tolerant of people and have taken to wriggling into tents and rucksacks during the night and eating your Polly Waffles and CheeryRipes
I can't believe people refuse to believe in snow snakes, just because they're invisible doesn't mean they are not real. I mean what else would steal my PollyWaffles and not leave any trace?
I thought I caught a glimpse of one in the corner of my eye last year but when I looked closely there was nothing to see. their white and silver camouflage and the ability to look like a dead snowgum branch is incredible
While not known to be fatal the bite of the Alpine Snowsnake is reputed to itch like crazy all summer and is only relieved by high altitude and fresh snow rubbed on the bite sight. As Snowsnakes have such small and thin fangs it is often difficult to know you have been bitten until summers heat and the horrible itching starts

I was expecting more silly humorous posts to be honest, it is after all very much a tongue in cheap subject even if the unbearable itch while waiting for winter is very real

This site can be a hard and unforgiving humourless school for novice players, young Grasshopper ... .

Maybe this will help? Last Thursday, 30th March, I was NE of Dunn's Swamp, in Wollemi NP. It was early afternoon but it might as well have been night, it was as-dark-as. The rain was hammering and I hardly had a dry stitch left. A bit of shelter from a small overhang gave me some reprieve. Please enjoy the photo from then.



While I was deciding what I'd do next, to continue on, I switched on my ipod mini to brighten things up. I have 902 songs on my old ipod mini. I still can't believe it but the first song to play was, 'I Wish It Would Rain' by Steve Harley.
It is now two days later and I'm still laughing at what was a 1 in 902 chanced selection. Obviously one of the Weather Gods was taking the pi$$.

Hoop snakes are easy to avoid - just dodge uphill of them.

And run into Drop bears? The best way to avoid danger is to hide under a rock, like this:
