I found this Tolkien style for ArcGIS Pro years ago, but never got around to trying it until just now. I can now produce Tolkien-style maps of anywhere in Tasmania.

At least it's reasonably accurate. But no dragon lairs anywhere ...

It's all accurate, except that the mountains represent areas over 1200m (displayed as random mountain images within those areas), and not specific peaks. I need to work on this.

I have not yet been able to source a spatial dataset for the dragon lairs in Tasmania. I will keep looking.

Looks great. Seems to have removed all the smaller lakes and tarns. Reminds me of some 19th century maps

The smaller water bodies appear when zoomed in further. It's a bit tricky to get the categories of water bodies appearing at the most ideal zoom levels. I've split them into three categories based on area, but it's not perfect.

I think it's more likely that dragons have become shapeshifters (for self-protection; they saw what happened to the thylacines) and simply morph into the vegetative phase (Dracophyllum spp) whenever humans are in the area.

In response to the (valid and constructive) criticism, I've made some improvements:

• water bodies appear at more suitable scales for their size using 6 different size ranges of water body, instead of the 3 different size ranges previously used
• mountain peaks are now explicitly represented (from the LIST 'Nomenclature' dataset) by larger mountain images and larger labels - although they are a little stark... may need to tone them down a bit

(It's the same guy that posted the ArcGIS Pro style file that I used.)

PS. Looks like he's done a couple of different versions of these fantasy map styles. I found the one he shows in those videos and downloaded it. Now I can use elements from both his old version and his new version (I still prefer some of the items from the old version).
