This morning there was a ridge (?) visible behind Black Bluff from Sheffield- just to the right and appearing a bit back. Any idea what it's name is?

If it was only there this morning, unfortunately it may be gone by now.

The only one of any significance I can think of would be St Valentines Peak about 265 w from Sheffield :)

Spot on Corvus. Blackbluff is almost due west and Mt. Tor will look like an extension of Blackbluff. St. Valentines will be to the right over Nowhere-Else and then after that is maybe Loyetea Peak or Housetop (if you can see anything). If there is anything between St. Valentines Peak and Blackbluff it will be Two Hummocks or part of the Loongana Range. Looking west straight down the main street the hill over at Barrington is called Kings Hill. North of that you might see the Dial.

There is nothing much else out there.

Must be St Valentines then- that gives me something to look for anyhow. Thank you to the helpful responses! To the others- why bother answering if you haven't got anything useful to say?

Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer

And wasn't the original question addressed ONLY to Sheffield people? How come all these city slickers from down south answered, and got acknowledged for so doing?

This City Slicker is from Devonport as is WT I believe and Sheffield is really only a suburb of Devonport is it not or will be when we take it over (amalgamate I mean  )

Ah yes, but there are some hobartarians above.

We shall never be integrated into the great metropolis of Devonport. The town will be physically moved if necessary.

More and urban captive than a City Slicker, but I'm planning my escape.

my oath- now I know why I and many of the other long-time users of this board have migrated away. I knew I shouldn't have asked anything on here- silly me.

Don't let it worry you too much. As I said somewhere before, "There is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people". The twist is which person: the one who was seeking information, or the one who can't answer a simple question? Worth pondering when you consider what forums are suppose to be about.

There are lots of people who look at the horizon and wonder what the name of the lumpy bits are. I couldn't see much at all from Sheffield yesterday - just a setting sun!

I often look at the horizon and wonder what the names of the lumpy bits are. Trouble is, I usually forget them as soon as I am told.

I am happy I can identify Mt Roland. :)

Must be Mt Wellington then. Or Mt Nelson.
Well, that'll make the Game easier...

All cities are *&%$#! holes. Especially state capitals. Thankfully all the worst knobs are drawn to them. Have a nice day.

I don't know what your problem is, but you might need to put your boots and a go for a walk and stop degrading Nik (and our) forum.

Umm ....... what? Degrading the forum? How so?

I think you need to go back and carefully read the phrasing of your original post. Then you might realise the basis for the frivolity you have encountered.
