i thought I'd read up a bit about the geology of tasmania
hmm its more complicated than i expected
does anyone have a dummy's guide to tasmanian geology
how the more interesting peaks were formed?

When I was at school the text was :"Behind the Scenery" by Fish and Yaxley. Don't know if it's still available but surely there are copies somewhere.

"The rock which makes Tasmania", by David Leaman is good.

There's a book, from memory called "Made In Fire" that is a "smart dummy" guide to Tasmanian Geology. You used to be able to get it from tourism centres and bookstores- it is dear, but nice, and worth it IMHO. Try Petrarch's in Launnie or the Devonport Bookshop in Devonport, or the Hobart Bookshop. One of them is bound to have it.

There's a bit in the park notes on Parks Tasmania's website.

Ken Collins' (the Green Book) book is a basic start.
