Stand-Up Paddle Boarders Cross Australia's Bass Strait

Last week, three stand-up paddle boarders completed a challenge of epic proportions. Australians Zeb Walsh and Brad Gaul, along with American Jack Bark, completed a 180 mile (290 km) crossing of the treacherous Bass Strait, a body of water that begins at southern Australia and runs to Tasmania.

What's the dominant direction of the current? Did they have to fight it?

Haha... great story! A lot of determination to pull that off I imagine. Personally I'd be too scared of things that might go bump against my board.

Big respect to that achievement. In 5-6 metre swells the spirit of Tasmania was exciting but on a smaller vessel or less it would take some courage and skill to do it.
