Hard to believe its been 5 years now but next week I go in for what is hopefully my last mammogram/ ultrasound and set of blood tests.
I'm OK I am sure
I wish I could say the same about my brothers bowel cancer.
Live with it or die with it either way it kills you

Do not go gentle into that good night
Dylan Thomas, 1914 - 1953
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

One of my favourite poems but I'm not sure I agree with the philosophy/. Anyway my clinic has been postponed for week while the doctors examine the last ultrasounds { I'm a afraid they are not clear and I may need a biopsy to determine what the shadows are} my big fear is a lymphoma, I'm not sure i have the strenth to fight that.

Very sorry to hear that Moondog but as far as strength goes, you have the strength and courage to
camp out in a blizzard for a week/s. Don't underestimate yourself.

+1
Odds are you'll be fine as whatever they find will be found early and very treatable, that's assuming they find anything.
If you can handle a blizzard and enjoy punishing your body for weeks at a time in the bush you no doubt have both the physical and the mental fortitude to handle whatever is to come.
Whilst I don't personally know you I've observed some of the more generous things you've done for people (I assume strangers) on the forum expecting nothing in return. I hope all goes well for you.

Moondog, don't worry until it's time to worry. Otherwise it's not healthy. 'Don't worry, be happy' as in the song in the meantime!

Correct! There are so many benign possibilities for a shadow. Invariably the doctors will take a cautious line and that's a very good thing! With insiders knowledge and all, the most important thing is to find competent medical professionals who one can trust. Once done, worry is unwarranted. It's then just a matter of dealing what comes up, one at a time. Cheer up and think more of your 2015 snow camp. Worry not!

Well I have to go back in 6 months and they've ordered so many tests I feel giddy.
I've been referred to the ID clinic "Just in case" because of the recurrent fever I've had since Nuigini which no-one has previously been able to determine the cause of' as well as tests for TB/AIDS-HIV' /Hepatitis A-Z/ and lots and lots of other blood-work too. All this on top of the bloodwork done 6 months ago the at found nothing except heightened uric acid levels
Thank goodness and old Gough for Medicare and Out-patients clinics

Doctors hate "fevers of unknown origin". Thorough is good!

G'day Moondog 55,
Like you I have many Medical ailments and rattle with the pills I need to take

however your high Uric Acid problem may well be "cured" with the simple eating of fresh Cherries or drinking cherry juice from the Health Food Shop.
I was in agony from the worst pain I ever experienced with Gout , there are many things we eat that contribute to this condition some that we think that are healthy so do a search and be surprised ,your health may well just improve .

I actually tried the cherries and it did help a bit, my gout WAS dietary and took a while to clear up but fine now, I will however be deleting Spam from my food list from now on.
Funny thing is I have been on Preds for a few days now for a severe allergic reaction and my back pain has dissipated/almost gone entirely/ good side effect of what I consider a needed bad medication.
Physical ills are just part of getting older as our bodies start to wear out

Given that I've always been addicted to cherries, I'm at least fairly certain to avoid gout. Pity they can't help all the other aches and pains that come with growing older.

Wisniova (cherry vodka) may be the answer

Or perhaps a Cherry Vodka infusion
1 Bottle Vodka,500gm sugar,500gm fresh Cherries combine in a large glass jar and leave for around one month in a cool place giving it a shake every day, strain into clean bottles and enjoy.

Wouldn't be surprised if that's pretty much the recipe for Cherry Vodka, Corvus. "Infusion" does sound a little more medicinal though

This is more a Liqueur and I have made it with Dark Plums it could also be made with other Stone Fruits or Berries.

Why does every thread here devolve into a discussion about drugs?

I guess so laong as the drugs involved are legal we don't have a problem. Define the difference between drugs and medication and it starts to get a little muddy tho. Think of the large number of liqueur drinks that actually started as medicine tho
Also I may add that I have NEVER hidden my coffee addiction

I'm with @bubbalouie on this one, MD. You're one tough mother f***er. Stare down the beast of fear!
And if that doesn't work, give it a wet willie.
