Why have I been on the computer all day?

I have been baby sitting a 6YO female who decided that today all she wanted to do was become a turnip and watch TV all day. Said YF in now sitting on my lap while I type single fingered.
I am taking herself and her 2YO brother into the wilds of the lounge room tonite for a camp out, making a tent out of bedsheets and old lace curtains and the sleep-over bag on the floor I expect I will have to sleep there too. It's great being Grandpa sometimes
A real domesticated day, dishes and laundry and snacks every 10 minutes or so

Good on you MD. Adventure can be an indoors thing at that age, and I'm sure they'll have fun.

I set up the tent with my 3 year old and sleep outside with him every few months.

He learns about the sounds of sleeping outside, he learns teamwork when we put the tent together - and he is absolutely fascinated by his head torch.

Plus his uncle gave him a bright green sleeping bag last Christmas so I figure we should use it before he grows out of it.

I have a terrible memory, and remember very little of my life before the age of about 8. Camping is still some of the strongest memories from my childhood, and I hope to pass that on when he gets a bit older and we venture beyond the backyard.
