Hello friends

Please sponsor me as I take part in the grueling Triple Top Mountain Run which is a 20km running race organised by the Kentish Lions Club that traverses the Mount Roland plateau just outside of Sheffield (see http://www.kentishlions.org.au/ttrun.htm), the race will be held on Sunday the 8th of November.

All of the money that I raise will be used to support and bless the needy in Bacolod, Philippines, when my wife Bec and I travel there to take part in a Christian Mission trip in February and March 2010.

Please support this worthwhile cause by sponsoring me in this run, any donations are welcome, you can contact me by PM through this forum, by phone (0429 424 695) or by email (pbeeston@energybank.com.au) and I can provide you with electronic banking details to register your support!

Please remember, all of the money that is donated will not be supporting Bec and I in any way, but rather will be going directly to those in our world who need it the most!

Thanks!

Phil

Just thought I'd give an update; I've had a number of donations from BT members so far, thanks heaps to those who have supported my efforts :D

I'm obviously using other channels to raise money - through friends and family, Facebook, email etc......

After about 3 weeks of fundraising, $1350 has been donated so far which is amazing! I can't wait to be able to use the resource to help out those in need when we travel away :)

I was also wondering, is anyone else on this forum actually entering the Triple Top event? Obviously it's open to walkers as well as those who are silly enough to attempt to run the whole thing :?

Cheers

Phil

I was going to, but we've organised our squash tournament to be on that weekend so I can't. :( Not that I would have been running!

Hi Phil,

I think what you're doing is great! I've found that when I want to do fundraisers, especially targeting social networking sites on the net, I've used Everyday Hero; I've included the link above.

This means that no money is going into any of my own personal bank accounts when raising money for causes; I just thought it might give you an edge as far as networking with and reaching more people, especially over the net.

Good luck and cheers!

Thanks to everyone who supported my fundraising and has made donations so far!

We are approaching $3500 raised which will go A LONG WAY to making a difference in the lives of people who don't live in as comfortable circumstances as we are blessed to!

I completed the Triple Top Mountain Run yesterday (19.7 km over Mount Claude, Mount Van Dyke and Mount Roland); it was by far the toughest thing that I have ever done in my life (and SO MUCH harder than anything that I was expecting!) I managed to finish in a time of 3hrs 18min which was good enough for 47th overall out of nearly 200 entrants. There were a few spills along the way, plenty of scratches, a bit of blood, some sunburn (it was the hottest day in the race's history!), a rolled ankle whilst coming down the face track (which is very sore today) and plenty of mud but an overwhelming feeling of pride and satisfaction when crossing the finishing line!

My wife and I head off to the Philippines early next year; I'll provide an update on what we got up to and how the funds were used once we return!

Onya mate! Top job. I'll look forward to hearing about the trip next year, too.
