CAFE 100 Campbell Town

Stopped off at the Cafe 100 last week on our way through to the Northern part of the state. Not sure if I will be allowed a blaitant plug on the site, but if your after a good feed you MUST stop here! The food was amazing (and it's licensed) and it's run by a forum member Doogs who will come out to say g'day. I have no affiliation with the cafe at all, just thought the food was so good it deserves a mention.

I keep meaning to stop in there, since I realised it was run by a forum member. Haven't had the chance to stop in at Campbell Town for a while though.

So does doogs look anything like his current avatar?

Lol, yeh it makes him pretty easy to spot...... But no actually, he looks pretty normal for a scot.

And before anyone gets upset at me slagging off scots, i am a 5th generation tasmanian/scotsman.....

How come you don't look "normal" then? Is the Tasmanian portion from NW (inter)breeding stock. Zing!

Thanks ILUVSWTAS, it was great to meet you and your family on your trip north. Always nice to put a face to someone you haven't met.

That is exactly what I look like! I can confirm ILUVSWTAS is actually Homer Simpson, and I have also heard a rumour that Ollster is a giant panda as well.

Doogs we went past on Saturday morning, cafe wasn't open but there was a small farmers market running out the front, are you involved with that?

I would have been there. We get the market set up first then open the cafe as soon after as possible, usually 830. I would have been around somewhere and the coffee machine would have been hot. Shame you missed Tasadams pictures and it would have been good to meet you.

OK to try and construct a sentence that makes sense after it has been censored. hmmmm.... Some say swearing shows a lack of vocabulary. The *&%$#! little *&%$#! smashed in my *&%$#! back door of my cafe with a *&%$#! crowbar, then *&%$#! trashed the place looking for cash. All they could find was a small amount of tips left on the front counter, about $20. We lost 3 hours of business due to clean up and police report. The worst thing is the police think they know who it is but can't touch them as they are under 18 (unless their deadshit parents give consent for a DNA test and finger printing!).
Anyway, after all that I continued my day as planned and took my wife up St Patricks Head, it was great as we get to spend very little time together without the kids. The view was awesome.
monandmestpatshead.jpg

*&%$#! happens and its not nice, but there is always therapy to be had in them there mountains.
Sorry Pazzar I you missed us, and it would have been good to meet you too.

PS. Has anybody got a shovel I can borrow.

Didn't get enough money they needed for whatever at my place so they broke into a gift shop down the road and got a few hundred dollars from there. And no they didn't get the recipe I keep it on me at all times in my sporran!

We came through at roughly 8 and a couple of the lads had a Banjo's coffee, didn't contaminate myself though....Will be coming through at a more reasonable hour in the near future though.
I like your wife's bushwalking boots  Seriously though, very nice St Pats is one walk I'll take my wife too.

I'm not big on Penne. Does he do Gnocchi? I'd just about kill for a really good bit of pumpkin gnocchi.

I didn't have time to stop for food on the way to a job interview but the iced chocolate and the artwork were both excellent. :)

Are you open on Sunday mornings?? :?:

I will be going through next Sunday am, from the ferry. And I think by then I'll be desperate for a proper coffee. :D

If not, I'll survive :(

We open about 930, but having my caffeine fix at about 830. So you are welcome to bang on the door anytime after 830 and come in and say hello!

Thank you! I have no idea when I'll get off the ferry, or how long it will take me to get down there, but I'll knock politely if I'm there before opening. :-)

I have decided not to renew my lease for 'Cafe 100' which runs out at the end of this financial year. The Cafe may be ressurected in some form or other, but not by me. I did not take this decision easily, and it has weighed heavily on my mind for the past couple of months. I would like to thank all forum members for their generous words and kind support of my business.
With a young family (and plenty of bushwalking ambition) I have found it increasingly hard to justify working long hours. I just had my first full week off in 2 years and had time to relax with my children and it was awesome (I also got a couple of walks in too). Hopefully I will see you all out and about in this fantastic State of ours.
Cheers, Dugald.
PS. Has anyone got a job for me ;)

doogs wrote:I have decided not to renew my lease for 'Cafe 100' .....

From a selfish viewpoint, it is sad to hear that news. This means there will be one less place to eat in Campbelltown, and the food here has been excellent.

Dugald, enjoy this new chapter in your life and all the joy and freedom it will give you. My sincere thanks again for the opportunity to compliment your walls with my artwork, it was great to be able to use your venue to display my framed photos and I will miss the opportunity to provide a similar exhibition for you in the future.

I am very happy for you that you are taking this decision, giving you the freedom and time to do more of the things you want to do in life - more of the things that matter most to you, and I am sure your family will benefit too.

I took a similar step in my life in 1989 and have never regretted it. Congratulations!

I too have had good intentions of calling in, but with only a few days left . . . .
. . . . however I have a Professional Development meeting this Thursday night at the Grange, so might drop in on your last day to say hello/goodbye. What time are you planning to close your doors for good on the 30th?
