North-South MTB Track

Postby weetbix456 » Tue 06 Dec, 2011 9:19 pm

So the final section of the North-South MTB track was officially opened yesterday, linking The Springs - Shoobridge Bend - Junction Cabin and the Glenorchy MTB park via newly constructed single track. I had previously rode most of the older sections already, but stumbled upon the new section from Junction Cabin while out for a run on the weekend, and ended up following it out to Glenorchy. Heaps of fun, flows nicely and its difficulty can be altered by the speed you choose to cruise. I also got talking to a group of riders who seemed to be having a blast. Can't wait to get back up there on the bike myself :D

I'd just like to thank all those who put time, money and effort into its design & construction.

I'll pass that on Mr Bix, I am currently producing a video on the construction of the track and will post a link when it is in the public domain. Great care has been taken with sightlines etc to make the track a dual use for walkers and MTB riders. It is a fantastic track and I think with some political will and $$$ Tasmania could become a serious contender in the MTB-ing world. :)

Ahh wicked! Sounds good SBS. I did see one on the construction of the Shoobridge - Junction section somewhere on the web, not the same? It's easy to forget the work that goes into these projects. Theres a small write up about it in the new 'Outer Edge' mag, making their top MTB tracks in Australia list too :)
