Do you feel like you're herding cats when trying to organise a walk or transport with other forum members with no other means of communication than the forums? Well the new Bushwalk Tasmania 'Meet Up' tool can help!

NB: This tool is specifically for the preliminary planning stages to help people figure out who can participate, and optionally to choose between several date options and/or several route/location options. However, it also provides a facility to have the current status and final plans always available in an easy to find, easy to read page without people having to search through dozens of forum posts to see the current status of planning.

This tool is brand new so please report any bugs to me.

The 'Meet Up' tool has now had an automatic data cleanup feature added which will run once per day.

This cleanup will automatically delete any meet up proposal (and related data) that meets any of the following criteria:

• no date options, no route options and created more than 28 days ago
• no date options and created more than 365 days ago
• latest date option was for more than 28 days ago and created more than 28 days ago

The meet up tool has undergone some code changes to make it more secure. There is the possibility that these changes could have introduced bugs due to typos that I've not caught in my testing. Let me know if you come across any problems using the tool.

Nik, is there a way to add an index list to this page - http://bushwalk.com/meetup/ - so one can easily see a list of all currently proposed "meet-ups".

This is certainly a possibility (the admin interface already includes such a list). But we need people to be able to keep their meetups off the public list, if they wish to.

I may add a 'public' checkbox (similar to how it is used on the inventory tool), which will be off by default, but people can then choose to have their meetups on the public list if they want them to be open to anybody (anybody from the forums, that is).

Not sure when I'll get around to this, but send me a reminder if I don't get onto it for a few weeks.

Sounds like a good idea Nik, for those walks where numbers need to be limited,
It'll be good to have both options.
