invasive advertising on mobile

Not a fan of the advertising overlay while browsing on my android phone, a flashing fake Facebook message ad. I don't mind advertising, but I kind of felt this site was better than this.

The ads go away when you log in, Though I'm sure Matt would appreciate donations to lessen the ads.

There's a cost to good services.

Thanks for the feedback Dinna89.

Yep I find those ads annoying too :)
I have gone through and filtered out as many of the really crappy ads (fart buttons etc). But I do need the ads to help offset the cost of running the site.
The site is set up so once you log in on mobile there are no ads. On the standard website there are some minimal ads - all walking related.

thanks again

Matt :)

Yep, and the OP explicitly did not disagree with the need for ads.

yeah -- and the popup ads on the road side, train lines etc.
The only place where there are no popup ads is alongside bushwalking tracks.
Hummm -- that gives me a business idea.....

Matt :)

I often encounter snack and drinks or even beer advertising on tracksides. They typically pop up without warning and are highly noticeable. I would say that they are highly effective as they typically induce an immediate behavioural change in me, causing me to stop and pick them up. So so evil!

I could probably handle a sign saying "ice cold beer. 50 meters" at the end of a hard walk.
