TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Mon 23 Mar, 2015 12:45 pm

:D Hello everybody, i am thinking of doing the south coast track over summer this year. So my question is has anyone done this in a hammock? Would love to hear from anyone who has done this or if anyone can tell me if there are suitable trees at the camp grounds. thanks so much.

Hi, I just joined the forum in order to reply.

We did the South Coast Track in March and used our warbonnet blackbirds the whole time. We had no problems finding a good hang, just avoid the tea trees and go for the stronger birches.

All main campsite have large enough trees.

Please talk to parks first and remember that many of the coastal trees are really fragile. Use the widest protectors you have and don't go without. Please.

I had a customer do it a while back in one of my hammocks. Good advice already given above.
