TIP: The online
Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

An interesting look into recent regulatory developments regarding PFAS, chemicals used in making waterproof garments.
Last month, California and New York banned manufacturing and distributing textiles and garments containing PFAS, chemicals commonly found in waterproof-breathable garments. What does this mean for waterproof cycling apparel, the popular membranes they’re made of, and bikepacking gear treated with water-repellent coatings?

Interesting. I have a couple of older jackets that, no doubt, have DWR with PFAS in them. I wonder about the ethics of taking them into the bush now. Even in the minute amounts that they contain, I woud be contributing to polluting the environment with chemicals that will never break down and stay there forever.
An interesting archeological puzzle for whatever civilisation succeeds us - what exactly is that layer of plastic in the rocks and how did such an intelligent race poison their planet and commit civilisationicide....
