Where to buy Zebralight in Australia

Bushwalking gear and paraphernalia. Electronic gadget topics (inc. GPS, PLB, chargers) belong in the 'Techno Babble' sub-forum.
Forum rules
TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Great to do business with people who remember how important it is to provide good service to customers. Rare thing nowadays.

Given the current lack of Australian distributor, and the popularity of the ZL's on this forum, I looked into and was approved to be a distributor.

What model and accessories would people like to see stocked?

Great news Simon!

May I suggest stocking the GITD lamp holders, as they are fantastic but the lights don't come standard with them anymore. Cheap to hold stock of too.

I like the H52 besides the confounded flash warning. Do they all have that feature?

I am not up to date on the all features Nuts - I have a lot of reading and learning to do, and then playing with the new stock which is always the best part :D .

Excellent news Simon. I wish you well with the distributorship.

I already have two Z/Ls, the H51 and the H51W, both of which I think have been superseded. I like to carry a back up light and having one suited to walking and the other a bit better around camp has worked very well for me. Light and more than sufficient power. Both mine came with the GITD holders, and the standard black holders.

Should I need another, my preference would be as close as I could get to what I have.

I will certainly come to you should I need another, or if I hear of anyone looking for a source.

If you wanted to keep it simple and please many customers, just stock the H52w and the H502w. Neutral white, AA battery, the 52 an all rounder spot lamp and the 502 a true flood. Coupled with eneloop rechargeable batteries these are fantastic. Stocking, as others said, extra holders and headbands would be great.

Stry the H51 came with both holders. The H52 now comes with black only.

This is along the lines of what I was thinking, without yet knowing the specifics of each model. I will look into those two initially. Cheers.

A practical question. How will this affect our purchase options? Given they have effective free shipping (over US$50), will the local service primarily of faster delivery, support and Fx risks? Hope they'll cut you a decent deal to make it profitable for the effort and unstable Fx.

Congratulations Simon, I've been a zebralight user for a number of years now and even have an original H50. I'd agree that the H52w and H502w are good places to start, being AA powered and most people seem to prefer the neutral 'w' tint lights when they see them in person.

Not that I really need another headlamp, but I do like the look of these things and they're good value. Looking forward to being able to get one locally.

Congratulations, provided you dont get stuffed around by Zebralight i think you will never have any trouble moving Zebralight stock in Australia provided the price is reasonable. The poor AUD atm might put some off these lights but hopefully over time it will improve and the cost to us wont be as painful.

I have atm the SC600 neutral (original) SC600w updated version and the SC600mkII. The H502w, H52w and the SC5w.

I dont think you can go wrong with the AA lights, id stay away from the CR123's. I would also suggest getting a few 18650 lights, either the SC600mkII or the SC62.

There are plenty of fans of both cool white and neutral/ warm white so i wouldnt stock just one or the other.

I dont think the wide beam models (H502/H602)are anywhere near as popular as the standard reflector equivalents (H52 etc). They really are nice for use in a tent but they are nowhere near as versatile as the lights with a more traditional beam.

If your not on CPF, id be happy to give you a plug once you have them up on your website.

Travis.

You will still have the ability to purchase direct from ZebraLight, I will just be offering an alternative to those who want to get it faster and have any potential warranty issues dealt with faster, if it's a unit purchased from me. As for the business side of things we will just have to see how that pans out, but I deal with a lot of small companies who can't always offer the same discounts as the big mobs but I like working with them, and I like stocking quality gear that isn't readily available elsewhere in Australia.

Yes we will just have to see how it all pans out. I am fully aware of past issues with supply and other issues so I am not going in totally blind. I am not on CPF but have browsed the threads often. Thanks for the advice.

Great to hear of an Aussie vendor again for these lights simonm.

I love my zebralights but the support dealing directly with China is atrocious. I had a light not work after a few weeks, sent it back as per instructions, heard nothing for 2 months, finally got someone to email me back and they said that they hadn't seen it and it was probably lost somewhere - then no offer to help any further. About 8 months later (i can't remember the exact period) the light arrives in my mail from the support crew in China. It works again for a few weeks than dies (i think it is probably just a loose connection the comes and goes). I suspect they just found it in a lunch room somewhere and posted it back. I still have that light and it still doesn't work :( No problem a light was faulty (all manufacturing has a faults rate) but for a quality product you expect quality support when something doesn't work.

My other one works great. I'd never buy them again with their overseas support although they are the best headlamps on the market otherwise. If you can provide that same quality support we get with most of our outdoor gear here from Australia, i'd pay a premium to buy them again through you.

Yep that's the plan - quality support is a guarantee, especially being a member of this community, it makes me highly visible and accountable, which is a good thing.

The post in question is factual and relevant to the original question, however I have referred it to the site owner for verification. Personally if suppliers of equipment want to join the forum and assist with conversation, I think it is a good thing.
This particular post is worded like an advert, yet it is totally in line with the original question.
If a member wandered into their store, then came here and posted "I went into [store x] and they had these [list], they are a distributor and are happy to answer questions on [email]", that would be okay.
So why can't the store? Yes, t he rules... But when is it advertising, and when is it answering a question?
Any further discussion on this post please start a new topic in the appropriate area, copying what posts you deem necessary, thanks.
