One Planet Goondie 2 or Tarptent Scarp 2?

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

I have the inner up in under a minute on my Goondie 2, fly takes about half that so I'm not fussed about the lack of integrated pitch. I always carry a couple of chux cloths which can be used to wipe any moisture if need be

Sorry my comment regarding the width was relating to the Goondie 1. I have never been in a Goondie 2!

No worries Strider. I haven't been in the Scarp so we're even. I suspect, as others have said, that people get quite loyal to their tents that are tried and trusted. I'm sure the Scarp is a very good tent as well

I've ruled out the Hilleberg range, because of the price. They seem to be very well made and popular. The Unna is a one person tent; I'm after a two person.

I went into the One Planet shop today and tried out the Goondie 2 for size. Its a little on the narrow side for two people whom may have no desire for intimacy; but its acceptable. Anyway, the intention is to mainly use it as a one person. Head room is not an issue as has been already pointed out.
In the end I decided to buy it - it was on special and I reckon it fulfils my needs. The Scarp 2 I'm sure is a great tent, but the falling A$ and the additional postal charges amount to a total cost that was a little more than what I was prepared to pay.
The fly wasn't pitched for obvious reasons - its not really a showroom in the tiny OP shop; but shortly when I get a chance, I'll erect the full tent in the backyard.

Another Goondie 2 fan. Just returned from 34 nights on the AAWT in some atrocious weather. The Goondie stood up to everything Mother Nature threw at it. The flow is nice and thick. I didn't use a footprint. Stayed totally dry. The setup is very quick..probably under 2 minutes. Just a couple do criticisms..the bottom of the fly at each end of the tent is always loose. I could never get it tight between the poles. This means the bottom seam of the fly rests against the vertical section of the floor liner..didn't cause any problems but used to annoy me. Also, the real weight is 2.2 kgs which is bordering on heavy these days. But if you want a simple and robust tent, it's a ripper.

I had the same problem with mine when I first used it.
I found if you grab the corner of the fly and pull it down wilst pulling the tensioning strap the fly will pull down alot further than by just pulling the strap. If you do this on each corner then the fly gets tighter and lower. Fixed it for me and now the fly is tight and never touches the inner. It also makes me happier with it nice and low to the ground.

Thanks horsecat.

Anyone here (in the Goondie club) purchased the mesh interior separately? Know a ballpark price? The salesperson in the OP shop didn't know any details regarding that. Would be good for Summer trips in warmer more predictable climates.
