TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Yep, I usually prefer the glass half full attitude :-)

I think the more I look the more I think I prefer the extra room in a 2 person shelter for a little extra weight. Its hard to know though without using a tent if it will be big enough. Pity there's not a tent library somewhere!

One of the things I like about the Moment DW is the ability to easily increase the size of the vestbules through sliding a buckle and/or unclipping the inner from the fly on one side. Mind you I will probably end up with Scarp as well one day, and maybe a Stratospire :D

The Moment was also easy to set up on the Overland tent platforms.

I should round out this thread given that I was the OP. I ended up picking up Ron's kind offer and went with his new Moment DW with CF poles and solid inner. Most impressed by the weight when it arrived in the mail. My hip and back were smiling already. Seam sealed the unit today and is waiting to see if I'll need to do the same with the tub floor of the inner. The inner space is clearly a lot smaller than our family Gemini III but it was still roomy enough for my size and adequate for my gear needs. At this point, I do miss a number of convenience features on the Exped eg. Pull tag on zippers, pockets in the inner and a loop or two in the ceiling of the inner to hang a night light etc. I can see I'll make a few feature improvements going forward. The other obvious like is the pitching simplicity. A peg on each end is just too easy. No more worries with geometric squareness.

Now, need to find an opportunity to put it to real use...

Things missing ...
"Pull tag on zippers"
More importantly we (TT) don't include guylines* either and both are deliberate.
In fact for the same reason several "cottage" manufacturers don't include pegs either.
That is because many people that buy our products are very much focused on lightweight but high performance so they tend to spend time finding the "best" guylines, best pegs and whatever they can possibly swap to improve their tent.
In my case I have several types of bought (gifted really...) zip ties (I kind of like the glow in the dark ones) as well as home made versions including a type that I made by immersing mason line in a silicone slurry .
That was another of those "what do I do with leftover silicone" moments.
* If you still don't have guylines on your Moment, add them. They make a huge difference in bad weather.

I have the moment single wall and it is a great tent and easily my favourite for lightweight 3 season walking. I strongly suggest some type of groundsheet though as the floor is very lightweight and easily pierced (as I found out).
I may be doing the typing but Steve Jobs is doing the spelling!

Thanks for chipping in Franco. My earlier post wasn't a criticism of Tarptent and I am fully aware of the weight reduction objective from the designer's perspective. To me, this Tarptent design is a basic platform design and additional features can be added through DIY at owner's discretion, along with weight increases. Perfectly reasonable. As indicated, I'll add a few features going forward. Yes, Ron's kit included the additional guylines and the crossing pole. All good for adverse weather!

Thanks Empty! Issue noted and the Tyvek footprint stays as part of the kit.

I took your comment as a valid observation, good for others to know what to expect anyway.
Doesn't matter if a manufacturer does include bits or not, some will like it others will not.

BTW, I strongly suggest that folk read the FAQ (not only on our site...) so that a better understanding of what to expect can be had.

No problem. My expectation over this Moment DW purchase was fully met. As a matter of fact, I was expecting even less frills. Adding a bit of this or that is really just a bit of personalisation that I usually do with all my gears. No drama.
