Vacuum sealer for food storage

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Can anyone recommend a vacuum sealing system for food packing - I am wanting to vacuum pack my home made dehydrated food ahead of an AAWT later in the year.

I'm using an Eurolab, new around $70 I think but sometimes on Gumtree as well. I seal home made meals to freeze them and heat them up in boiling water, seal meat in marinade and seal snacks. Still working fine after 3 years and at least used 100+ times.

We have a "Campfire" and the latest model? is available for $99.00 from Rays Outdoors (normal price seems to be $129.00)

I have a Sunbeam VAC 420, does the job for me.
Pretty sure I bought it (years ago...) because was on special and was not interested in the larger sizes.
Make sure you can get bags/rolls for it.
Mostly now I use the bags to rehydrate my meals (no taste and do very well with hot water)

Maybe watch the most recent episode of Catalyst for a reminder about the chemical cocktail you ingest when food is heated in plastic.

Food for thought rather than food to die for.
I may be doing the typing but Steve Jobs is doing the spelling!

Thanks for that, interesting episode. See http://www.abc.net.au/catalyst/stories/4207313.htm
I use BPA free rolls that are safe to boil (not all rolls can be boiled and/or microwaved).
