Macpac Tui Pullover - any user opinions?

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Macpac Tui Pullover - any user opinions?

From owners please and not people who've read a review or heard from a friends brothers girlfriends uncle.

http://www.macpac.com.au/mens/tops/flee ... -v3-m.html

Not a lot of detail on the Macpac site on this top.

I'm not interested in "moral" opinions on supposed polar tech patient issues, merely the warmth and usage detail of anyone thats gone before me.

Wanting to add to my wardrobe some low'ish bulk tops and the two for $80 appealed to my wallet.
Thinking of grabbing two in black, having already stained one of my new blue merino jumpers, and a pair of black fleece "Dart" trousers.

I've had a fleece jacket in the past, which was very warm but too bulky for optimal cycle touring.
It was a Macpac product and after around 2 decades I finally got sick of the colour scheme and got rid of it despite it still being far from worn out.
Green with purple cuffs/hood/collar was hard on the eyes towards the end though I kind of hated to part with it due to its warmth.
Badged Wilderness from memory, I liked its ability to shed water with a vigorous shake and retain warmth even when wet.

I'm probably thinking more for street/home wear usage.
I try to do a couple of hours walk most days, other than summer when I hide indoors too much hiding from the heat, putting on kgs of lard due to the lack of exercise - (I'm trying to make sure I've adequate clothing for the other months so as to have no excuse for losing it).
I don't use heaters in winter, preferring to wrap up instead of watching the power meter whirl.

I don't own it or know anything about it.

Seriously though. Its just a fleece top from a brand with a good reputation for garments. Other than size How could you go wrong?

You have written a long post about it. You obviously want it. So buy it. Or if possible go into a shop and try it on.

dont buy from a brand until you've tried it on for sizing. the fleece they are using is good quality material used by various major brands. quality or not if it doesnt fit you well. theres no point paying that much money for it.

I brought my wife & and myself one each about 12 months and we both love them. They are light weight and warm, well worth $80 for 2

Alternatively buy the version on clearance and try that for size.

I haven't tried it myself but it looks like a decent generic pullover and what's there to go wrong except sleeve length?

I owned one and gave it away. The sizing is small. Im an an XL is everything except Macpac. Upsize is advised. They are pretty thin. Alright quality though. I just got a Patagonia microfleece and the Tui from memory wasnt much thicker. Got the Pata's for a steal on Surfstitch - $34 each (was 20% off already discounted stock) Not sure if still available.

Thanks for all the contributions.
I'll be sure to check sizing before making any final purchase decision

It fits at least one size too small. The arms are designed for muppets.

I own one. The sleeves are to much of a slim fit and I gave it to my wife. I'm a slim guy but the fit is pretty poor.

I did end up grabbing a pair on the $80 special and some Dart fleece pants.

I had no issue with the arms in either length or narrowness but knowing the wide variety we human bodies come in, its somewhat unsurprising that "fits" don't suit all of us despite our feelings of "normal".

Being a bit of a fat illegitimate due to hibernating through WA's too hot (for me) summer indoors I'd put on some girth around the waist.
Whilst the length of the tops appear fine, there is some tightening around this area so I agree with all the tips of the importance of trying on first.
I grabbed a size larger than I would normally have done due to this lard and am happy with the fit (but not the love handles).

Perth is cold (to me) at night in Winter and I'm looking forward to it now feeling better prepared rather than wishing I had something warmer to wear.
