Costco mini crampons

TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Reviews out there aren't very complimentary. Apparently can easily come loose if it doesn't form an ideal fit with your boots. Cheap though.
Just move it!

I gave them a miss pending feedback from here! Considering some kind of an option like this for OLT in September though...

Hmm interesting Kahtoola are doing nanospikes now, and they even have my shoe in the picture.

I like the look of these ones; appear easier to put on / less fiddly than the Microspikes https://www.icetrekkers.com/

B3n, those Vargo's look like they'd be good for mixed ice/rock walking without the risk of rolling.

My club have used a variety of boot chains over the past5 winters on the OT. Unfortunately those using the above-mentioned Costcos have found the metal spring unravelled when stretched or caught on a nail or tree root.
Most agree that the Katoola Micro Spikes are the best in most conditions, with sheet ice, bare rock and iced board walk showing little wear. Soft snow and walking in puddles create balling up problems, but this happens with all boot chains.

I have some of these plus the Kahtoola KTS Hiking crampons, a good brand that works.

I bought Yak Trax for use in Nepal last year - couldn't quite justify forking our for Kahtoola Microspikes. They were pretty handy on icy slopes. Probably not the most durable, but only $30 a pair from a podiatry equipment online store. http://www.algeos.com.au/acatalog/yaktrax_pro.html

I recently just got a pair of Yaktrax Pro crampons, I found mine at http://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/au/yaktrax-yaktrax-pro-3e510025?id_colour=180 costing ($33+$9 as apposed to $30+$20). So a little cheaper but will probably take a few days longer
