TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Lol, I always wondered what those extra holes were for. I was trying on running shoes the other day and having issues with heel lift, and I guess neither shop assistant knew about this either. Thank you for posting.

Well dearie me. It's a shoe variation on the classic boot heel-lock lacing system.
Like Chezza, I'd often wondered about those extra holes. Not that I run, but heel lift can sometimes be an issue with walking shoes.

Cool, thank you! :) Like the others above me I had no idea that that setup had a function.

Surely that's an internet hoax? I mean it is just tying your laces with a couple of extra loops. The actual pull direction is the same and the normal tying method does exactly the same thing. I can't believe that since shoes have had these second holes we've all been unaware of this method that does nothing?

If it works the way the boot heel lock works - and it looks very similar - then there's no hoax. It really will reduce friction over the heel.

As long as the tongues are long enough. These days, so many shoes have short tongue that can't handle laces high up.
