Hi guys, looking for a hiking-able mat type. Big guy, 6'3", broad shoulders, side sleeping, sleep thrasher. Don't like air mattresses, the self inflaters are the most comfortable for me but being I am all over the ground during sleep, want something at least 75-80cm wide these days and moderately comfy. Are their any likely solutions for me? Stitch two skinny self inflaters together? get thick slab CC foam, etc? Would like to say around a kg and no more. Thanks for any replies from anyone in same boat, this issue is doing my head in

Msr make xl mats. I use a xl xtherm for snow camping as I don't touch the snow that way.

The issue with those dimensions is that few self inflating mats will weigh less than 1kg.

Eg:
76cm * 196cm, 1.6 kg

But a neoair double thickness weighs
1kg http://www.cascadedesigns.com/Therm-A-R ... er/product

I am 6 foot 4. I purchased the Thermarest Neoair Xtherm in large size. I fit great on it and it is a warm mat on those cold nights. Only down side is fitting two mats into a 2 man tent. The xtherm is rather wide at the shoulders.

" Don't like air mattresses"
Why ?
I am asking because there are several types so maybe there are air mats that could work for you.

Big Agnes make a range of mats in long and wide sizing. They are not available here but many on-line retailers in the US will ship them to Aus.

I'm using the new style S2S insulated air mattress in the Long Wide version and I am seriously impressed. Although it needs an extra CCF pad for snow camping I did that anyway under my old Thermarest
May pay you check one out in store

thanks all for the replies. Reason I don't like air mattresses, well tried a couple of the new exped ones and felt a bit unstable, bouncy, seem to move too much for me when you roll over. Maybe I should have tried a few other brands first..
I ended up buying a clearance model 2010 exped SIM lite 3.8 in large size , 197cm x 65cm and 38mm thick. I tried one of these in store and actually found it fairly comfortable even on my side. Have to admit it has some weight, about 980 grams..
