Can anyone advise me on how to close the knife blade on a Gerber Octane Multitool
Google searches are proving fruitless
There is a safety locking slide button, but it doesn't disengage the knife when pressed
Any ideas , or am I not disengaging the blade correctly
Thankyou

It looks like you bought the wrong knife and should have opted for a non locking blade Swiss army knife
instead of a multitool which is better suited for automotive use.

What you have to do is depress the bit (that is outlined in the picture below) away from the outside of the knife, towards the recess where the blade was when it was closed. This will release the lock and allow the blade to be folded back into position.
See if this helps:

This is called a "liner lock". It is a spring tensioned lock that sits next to the blade when closed, and springs into locking position when opened.
When new, some liner locks can be stiff, but they tend to self adjust after use.

Yep, Keithy sorted it.
If it has a liner lock, that liner lock has to be pushed sideways, for opening and closing to clear the way of the blade so the blade can fold/recede. You see the person in Tastrax's video 'push' it out of the way at the 1.44.--as he pushes with his thumb the liner lock (out of the way) he simultaneously closes the blade.
Looks like it has a cavity in the blade (from Keithy's pic) as well so the liner lock sits in that cavity and locks the blade when the blade is closed, making a secure locking knife -both closed and open. Nice. Wish I had that feature on my Gerber.
Surprised the pinheads didn't give directions.

Thankyou Keith, Blade is now safely back where it should be .
Thanks for explaining that so well.
I had left the packaging back at the shop( less to bring home)
That linier lock is hard to see but was easy to push down and the blade followed it effortlessly.
Its a great lightweight multitool, and the blade is super sharp ,hence my hesitation with closing it as it wouldn't give with me pressing the side lock buttons.
Thanks to everyone for your contribution to this post too
Problem sorted.

Onya Jane. Ta.
Keep your blade sharp
and your fingers out of the way.
