Shelf-ready cooked meats

Has anyone had any experience with 'fairly' new shelf-ready cooked meats that are available in the supermarket in cryo pack. Here you can get lamb shanks (bone in) and lamb curry. It says on the packet that they can be stored on the shelf up to 25 degrees. They are about $8 here and look like a good sized meal.
Too heavy for hiking but I would like to know how they stack up as a heat and eat meal and the taste.

Cheers,
Rowan

Yeah, they're good I think.
The curry ones are surprisingly tasty.

I grabbed a lamb shank pack with the intention of taking it sea kayaking this weekend. When stormy weather cancelled the trip I ended up eating it as lunch. It was surprisingly tender, though I hadn't considered the fact that the shank bone wouldn't have fitted inside my hiking pot. If weight wasn't an issue (as with kayaking) I'd recommend it.

Mind you, I've always found that lamb lasts reasonably well hiking outside of summer if you insulate it and eat it within a day or two.
