ACR resqlink question

Got an ACR resqlink as a birthday present. On the back of the box it says they will replace it for free if it's used in an emergency situation and you send it in with the story of why it needed to be used. Are these a one use device?

Mmm, I've had one of these units myself for about 3 years. Thankfully never had to activate it. My understanding is that they are re-usable after servicing following an incident requiring activation (replace the battery, re-test etc). This seems to be supported by the ACR web site:

Correct, though they should be treated as a single use device in that they are only to be used in situations of "grave and imminent danger". Hence why I chose not to get technical. Battery replacement shouldn't even be a concern when deciding whether to activate or not.
