Bushwalk Australia

Hello bushwalkers. We came to Australia to do some walks. We have Oz Topo maps for our garmin gps on a micro sd chip but we forgot the chip at home. Our bad! We'd like to download the Shonky maps to use on our gps but we don't have the necessary s/w or Windows programs. Any suggestions? Right now we're in Bathurst and heading northish. We are willing to buy garmin oz topo 3 maps but do not know where to by them on short notice. Any suggestions? Thanks, Liz

If you could advise what computer you do have, maybe we could help with Shonky download and setup for your garmin.

As far as buying Garmin Topo Australia, you should be able to find this at a bricks and mortar GPS shop if there is one near where you are going, otherwise you might be able to order it online and have it posted out.

Andrews Communications is in Bathurst, worth calling them, they may be able to help.

There is also a BCF store in Bathurst.

You might also try the GPS Australia forum - there might be a member close by who could add Shonky maps to your GPS

Thanks for your replies. We have had to navigate the old fashioned way, using topo maps and a compass. We've set waypoints so we can look at the maps on the computer when we get home to see where we went. Cheers, Liz
