New Canon DSLR - NZ Shots

Well I took my new Canon EOS 550D, with its lovely 15-85mm lens (and the newly-made water-proof carry bag), to the South Island earlier this month. And I'm pretty happy with their performance. The lens is fat and hefty, but was all I felt I needed for 95% of the time. Great wide angle, fabulous in low light, and good enough zoom for most occasions - though maybe not wildlife.

Some sample images can be seen on my Picasa albums here http://picasaweb.google.com/auntyscuttl ... ordlandNZ#

cheers

Peter

Nice photos Peter.
Particularly liked the shore line shot with the drift wood.

Thanks Brian - always good to get feedback from you! A bit more encouraging than the colleague at work (who hasn't been to NZ). He said something like "the place looks so good you could probably drop your camera and take an accidental shot and it would still look good".

How's your replacement going? A Pentax wasn't it?

cheers

Peter

Yes - I have a Pentax K7 - same lenses.
It is slightly different to the K20D and I need to do some more practising with it.
Shutter action is incredibly smooth though. :)

Here are a couple of examples in tough conditions from the recent rains.
