Falling Mountain

Anyone climbed this and have some tips on how to get there from the OLT? Much appreciated :) This walk is planned for about 2 weeks time, provided that it can be accessed without too much hassle!

There is no track. The route is from DuCane Gap to the north of the cliff lines you see from the OT. Follow the broad gully to the top. Good camping up there!

Climbed it by that route last Thursday. Start from Du Cane Gap. Route climbs steadily through light scrub then emerges into lower veg below the band of cliffs which can be followed round to the north. Then a straightforward ascent to the top with a few bits of big dolerite to negotiate in the last little bit. Took a good 2 hours to get up.

Wish we'd gone a similar way to you sowetas! We were walking the other way mind you (from the top down) but our route involved thick scrub, sketchy down climbs, pack dropping and misery.

Went a bit too far south, eh? The easiest route down involves the green gully just beside the Castle Crag rocks, and cutting diagonally down from there to the clearing in the saddle. You can't avoid the scrub completely, but that does minimise it.
