Transport: Overland track August/September

Hello,
My wife and I are planning on hiking the overland track sometime between the 26th of august and the 5th of September. Right now the plan is to leave our car at lake St. Clair and find a transport option to get to Cradle Mountain. Any suggestions except the expensive shuttle/ or the bus with overnight stop in Queenstown? Maybe someone else is hiking the track at the same time and would be happy to do a car shuffle?
