Scott Kilvert Hut

Postby Drifting » Thu 18 Apr, 2013 6:50 am

I'm recovering from a knee injury and wanted to take my daughter on a somewhat challenging overnight bush walk. If we walked into Scott Kilvert over the coming 2 week holidays, would we be likely to need a tent, or could we find a bit of space in the hut?

Its a large hut and most OLT folk go by way of Waterfall Valley. You should be fine, you may even have the hut to yourselves.

I always recommend taking a tent for emergencies anyhow, but at this time of year, there should be plenty of room in the hut. The upstairs (sleeping) room has not bunks, so it's just a matter of squeezing in between each other when it does start to get full (or sleeping downstairs instead).

Not much fun when it's full of people, but a great place to stay if you're lucky enough to get the hut to yourself.
