Emergency Beacon Hire (EPIRB) for Overland Track question

Hi Everyone,

I'd like to hire an EPIRB (emergency beacon) for the Overland track in a couple of weeks and I am arriving in Launceston on a Saturday to begin the walk on Sunday. Service Tasmania is closed on weekends so hiring an EPIRB through them is not an option. Parks and wILDLIFE office at the start of the track don't allow you to book their EPIRB'S and they have told me over the phone that they have a small number and they do run out at times. I am going solo on the edge of season. I want to be sure I get one. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Kind regards,

Michael

You could try these guys;

http://www.epirbhire.com.au/

Or get someone in Tas to hire one for you.

Mobile phones (telstra) do work on some parts of the track, particularly in the northern part and from mountains.
