Looking for walking companion for the overland track

Hi all,

I would really like to do the overland track, but currently have no one to do it with me.
Doing it alone is possible I guess, but I prefer to have a companion. In case it matters, i'm a 35 year old male .... non-single.

I live in Sydney, and would be wanting to visit Tassie sometime in May, do the walk and fly on home.
I have my own tent and other gear necessary .....
Girlfriend would come, but doesn't have the time-off.

Additional question: I notice there is a parks entry fee (i'd get the holiday entry pass ($30) .....
but in terms of booking ..... can I be knocked back on this ? Or, how does it work? I just pay the fee, indicate which time i'd be wanting to enter, and I get something in the mail?

Thanks for any responses!!

A good reference and starting point is the Tasmanian National Parks website. The FAQ may answer some of your questions.

I walked the track last September. We didn't need to pay the booking fee ($160) as we were outside the peak season (May to October). We didn't need to book huts, but I don't think this is required even over the peak season. Seems to be first in first served. Our group had a number of huts to ourselves during our walk.

It's a spectacular walk and place, hope you enjoy it.

I'm thinking about going in May as well, I'm a bit older than 35, female and also non-single. I'd be happy to walk with someone but also would want some flexibility with regard to walking speeds and side trips.
