Lake McCoy walk

Tue 25 Sep, 2018 5:59 pm

Hey guys, I'm wanting to do the walk into lake McCoy on the weekend. Was wondering how long the walk is and how obvious the track/pad is to the lake. I don't have a huge amount of experience with lesser known walks and thought this would be a good starter to gain some more experience.

Cheers

Assuming you plan to walk up to near the Mt Pillinger track turn off to start? I followed a pad to the open valley that leads to McCoy many years ago, not knowing that I would end up there (I turned off to Pillinger too early). The pad was relatively clear and easy to follow, and once in the valley it wouldn't be needed. This was 5 years ago though, so it has probably overgrown a bit, and possibly a few fallen trees.

Some friends were there on Sunday. I'll see if I can get some info. Sounded like an easy track to the lake, though.
