Hi, I am looking at walking through the walls to Lake Augusta in early Oct. Just wondering if anyone has done this trip and what would be the expected time frame at a leisurely pace taking in most of the climbs.

Hi Crimmo, it's 1 long day/2 cruisy days depending on the route from Dixons to Lake Ada. I'm guessing when you say most of the climbs you mean within the Walls? Well it takes half a day to get in there via the normal track, so up to you how long you spend in the walls themselves.

Day 1:
Carpark to Dixons, with sidetrips to Siloam, bethesda and Temple Mount.

Day 2:
Halls Buttress and King Davids Peak, then Jerusalem.

Day 3:
pack up, along Great Pine Tier to Lake Fanny (mostly off-track).

Day 4::
follow the Lake Fanny track out past Talleh Lagoons - possibly with sidetrip to Lake Antimony - to Ada.

That''s a very slow and relaxed itinerary.

Alternatively you could walk down the Bernes Valley from Lake Ball, following the Pine River to Lake Antimony, and then walk out from there. Both Lake Fanny and Lake Antimony are beautiful.

Bernes valley is beautiful, my kind of country.

Once you get to Silver Lake it is about 4 1/2hrs to Ada.

Only down side is Powena creek may be a bit swollen that time of year but with care can be crossed.

Just did this trip as part of a walk from Ada to Cynthia Bay. Lake Ada to Dixon's Kingdom is around 21kms and took 7.5 hours with plenty of stops for photos. There is a nice camp-site just before the Taleeh Lagoons Creek crossing if coming from the Walls. Plenty of nice spots around Lake Fanny too.

This section was definitely a highlight from the whole trip.

We have been trying to calculate on the map and in track notes just roughly how long time wise and KM’s it would be from Lake Ada to Lake Ball. We are doing a 2 night, 3 day trek and our main concern was the unknown time along that part.
How were the creek crossings?

We crossed Powena Creek just up from where it runs into Lake Fanny. Pretty easy even with a lot of water coming down and there are cairns to mark the crossing. Talleh Lagoons crossing was a bit more of a challenge but still managed to get through the normal crossing without getting wet. No I haven't been down that way but I can only imagine it would be a long day. im sure someone one here can help you out.

If you start at Lake Ada and follow the old 4wd track towards Talleh then turn towards Theresa Lagoon before going down the hill to the lagoons the track takes you down to Antimony. From there a pad will take you up Bernes Valley past Sally, Sonia and Solveig to Lake Ball. If you do lose the track it's not hard to figure out where to go. I've done this several times in a day, usually the other way though.
