hey Nik,
This is a great competition. Well done for nabbing a pass from Parks. Good value prize!

Parks hat on...
From a PWS perspective, I think the prize also highlight the usefulness of these sites for getting messages to key Parks users. Its well moderated, its easy for Parks staff to use and it abides by some of the track policies such as the low key or non promotion of remote tracks.
Well done to the admins and moderators....
Now lets see those track notes!

Tried again and got the entry in, thanks for the reply, Cheers

Thanks for the confirmation, Ian. Your entry has hit my "competition" mail folder.
Nuts - I can't speak for Parks, but I would guess that it may be about the promotion of parks, passes and tourism which draws in funds. However, I'm sorry if some members of the public do not approve.

Nuts, with all due respect - could you please go and rain on someone else's parade?
Someone here is going to get a free pass, and that's good. Parks are going to get some track notes by experienced non-aligned bushwalkers and that's good. It seems like a win-win situation to me, so why the grumbling?

Hi Nuts, I haven't been able to devote a lot of time to the forum lately so I missed these comment at the time they were made. I must say I was little surprised by the negative tones, but I see you have apologised for the grumbling.
Government agencies at all levels (local, state and federal) sponsor a very wide and diverse range of community activities all the time. It is a very health involvement in the community and sharing with the community. We need that involvement. The forum gives a voice to people from Tasmania, Australia and the whole world. You know, there isn't much point having your say if no one is listening.

Hey Everyone, this is competition is GREAT! It promotes this forum. It promotes Tasmania. It promotes bushwalking. It promotes National Parks. It will gather and share information from and between bushwalkers across the country. And, hopefully, it will add to the information on our WIki.
All you have to do to be in with a chance is fill in the form and tell us about a walk you have done. Anywalk!, Anywhere in Aus! Any time in the past! Couldn't be easier. If you have never walked anywhere, you have a whole month to do one walk and put in an entry. Its not about the best walk or anything like that. The winner will be randomly chosen from all valid entries. Sadly I'm not eligible to enter!

Mountnman, I'm sure Nik will have a look at this when he gets a minute.

...and the winner is ?

Oops yes sorry a winner has been chosen. I was just deliberating with the moderators about an issue related to this competition before posting.
But I think the issue has been cleared up now.
So... The winner is...
iandsmith for his submission entitled "Michaeliana walk and Chandler Walk"
I'll aim to get him and PWS in touch tomorrow regarding the prize when I have all my info handy.
Congratulations Ian, and thanks to all those who entered. We'll now have to to theory the entries and add then to the wiki as appropriate when time allows.

Congratulations Ian! Have you been before?

You should know by now that I have no conscience!

No, really we were trying to figure out if the winning entry was actually an eligible entry, but in the end we re-read the rules, and decided that it was definitely eligible, and according to the rules it was a very good entry - just a bit different to what was originally anticipated by the competition. Ie, it was more along the lines of a trip report than formal track notes.

No response from Ian yet (via email or PM) - does someone who knows him want to give him a gentle prod to check his emails or personal messages. Of course he could be out walking but he has posted on the forum since winning the competition.

Have you managed to contact Ian yet? I tried the email address and it didn't work. Julie.

No response to the email address with which he registered on the forums when I informed him of his win. I hope he's OK and just out bushwalking or something.
PS. The winner has now been contacted and been put in touch with PWS regarding his prize.
