Could it be Searcy Bay

Re: Game: Where-is-it (Aussie)

Not Kangaroo Island - though if I looked in a different direction.....

Not Searcy Bay - not on Eyre Peninsula

In the Deep Creek area?

Come to think of it, there are some nice sea cliffs on the Fleurieu Peninsula. Although I might have the spelling wrong . . .

Re: Game: Where-is-it (Aussie)

Not in or near Deep Creek or on the Fleurieu.
If you drill in a bit you may make out at least 3 islands and some sand dunes

could they be the cliffs at Innes National Park on the Yorke Peninsula

Re: Game: Where-is-it (Aussie)

Wed 04 May, 2011 8:42 pm

Yes - this is in Innes National Park at the foot of Yorke Peninsula.

This was a short off track walk along the cliffs to the west from a large sea cavern known as The Gap.
Also near here is a beach with the few remains of the Ethel wreck.
The dunes at the back line Pondalowie Bay - a popular surfing destination.

Thanks Eggs,

It was a lucky guess as I have never been in the area.

This one is in NSW, and is an easy one, what is the name of the peak I am looking at.

Yes, too easy.

Your turn north-north-west.

Another easy one to keep it moving. Still on the campsite theme, this time in Victoria.
For a bonus point, what does the metal plate say that is now sitting on the rocks at the base of the trig?

Timms Spur Lookout

Well done, eggs. Timms it is. Have you been up there?

Re: Game: Where-is-it (Aussie)

No - my Victorian excursions are mostly in the Grampians - [closer to Adelaide]
We have driven through to Mt Buffalo and Mt Hotham - but no walks up there yet.
I think when I have worn out a few other of my current interest spots I may start to visit the alpine areas of Vic & NSW.
I presume the view is across to Mt Bogong?

For this one - the solution was to read a label http://bushwalk.com/forum/search.php?author_id=1598&sr=posts
Under the heading "Re: Favourite Tasmanian camp sites [Multiple photo warning]"
But curiously - I can only see this page under your posts. If I go directly to the topic I can't see it?
I have tried to research it a bit more on the web though - this is my second attempt to understand the Bogong High Plains

What mountain is this in SA?

Not Abrupt - that is further away and much lower than this one

The photo was of a view of the mountain that many travellers see - but it is side onto the range.
This is another view but more face on of the same mountain.

Pompey's Pillar?

Re: Game: Where-is-it (Aussie)

Almost as high as Pompeys Pillar - but on a different range

Rawnsleys Bluff...cause it's the only one I know???

Re: Game: Where-is-it (Aussie)

Fri 06 May, 2011 3:20 pm

Sorry - not Rawnsley.
Going around the horseshoe shaped wall of Wilpena Pound you have Pompey Pillar, Rawnsley and St Marys Peak - with quite a few more names in between along the way - and Mt Abrupt sits on the ridgeline that extends north from the Pound.
This peak though, is on a completely separate range to the Pound.

For a really nice view of it (and some perspective) check out scrubmasters entry in the recent postings on "Favourite Tasmanian camp sites"
The hint is that he was bivoucing on the southern edge of Wilpena Pound.

After all that effort and just beaten to it .
Maelgwn must have pushed the button while I was typing.
Looks like I need to improve my speed .
