Clue, the AAWT goes between the two snow covered peaks.

I'm only guessing here, are you at Mt Keahnie? And I think the right hand mountain looks like Bimberi Peak.

Hi Vern,
You are right that the right hand peak is Mt Bimberi, I am not on Mt Keahnie but I that is in the right direction, what I am really after is the name of the grassy area at the bottom of the pic.

Hi Bluegum Mic,
Not Orroral valley but very close, we actually started the walk at Orroral valley, Orroral valley is actually a much bigger treeless area.

Eighty Acres?

Vern wrote:Eighty Acres?
Hi Vern,
Not Eighty Acres, another clue, the area or flat as it is called has a smaller similar named cousin nearby. The flat is often used as a gateway to climbing a major mountain in the center of Namadgi NP.

It has been 24 hours since I posted my photo, I am about to go to bed so I will give the answers.
The grassy area is called Big Creamy Flat, which is located just north of Mt Namadgi, the two peaks in the center and right are Mt Murray and Mt Bimberi, the Mountain that I am standing on is Mt Mavis. We started at the Orroral Valley and walked through Nursery Swamp and up the northern side of Mt Mavis, some tough scrub bashing but worth it for the stunning views.
Free turn as I will be busy tomorrow morning.

OK I'll have a go. Here's one hot off the press from the walk I did yesterday.
Where is the lookout I'm at? Bonus points for naming any features in the shot.

- From the lookout at the top of The Col, eastern end of Mt Solitary, Blue Mountains NP NSW

Mt Solitary maybe? Is that Kings Tableland on the left? Jamison River below you? And just a peek of Lake Burragorang?
Sun 15 May, 2011 11:59 am
Hi John, your at the col on Mount Solitary.
Features?..Lake burragorang in the distance and Kedumba walls.

That's it Chief, the lookout at the top of The Col on Mt Solitary (after the thigh burning climb up there from Kedumba R)

.
Yes, L Burragorang and Kedumba Walls in view, also the old Kedumba Valley Farm.
We did the full traverse of the Jamison Valley from QV Hospital to the top of the Golden Stairs, took about 8 hrs including several breaks.
Really nice day for it. Wind chill wasn't too bad while we were moving and/or no cloud was blocking the sun. In fact I was getting quite hot at times. Got a bit chilly whenever we stopped though. Anyway your go...

Above Mermaids Pool. Well to the name, many years ago this was known as Bargo Gorge, but these days it is more commonly known as Tahmoor Canyon.
I watched a guy climb up the right hand side of that big black rock sticking up in the photo with no ropes or safety harness one day.
First time I ever went abseiling (25+ years ago) was up on the cliffs to the left. We abseiled down to a ledge then climbed back up the cliff face using a caving ladder. Ended up with no skin on my knees and knuckles from the sandstone. I nearly forgot, we tied our own harnesses using seat belt webbing.

Those were the days.
Also, many years ago you just drove into the Scout camp and parked, no need to walk down from the bridge.

Where did I wake up this glorious morning?

In a red tent...best I can do sorry

Hi north-north-west,
Your photo seems to be a bit hard, a reminder about the
rule The Photo you post to the game should be a Panorama or panoramic scene with good detail and plenty of clues to help people work out what it is and then Where-It-IS.
Your might have to give a few clues.

We also need some patience - NNW is not a lurker like some of us - generally one or two responses at night of late.
However, I am assuming dubberland is NSW??
And that this is probably in/near Kosciusko NP?
An elevated spot over fairly mundane rolling hills with a reasonable sized river running through the valley....
Maybe the faint hint of some distant houses just beyond the ridge line intercepting the tent side on the left ???
PS - I believe we have had a lot of photos for which the rule has had little bearing - but I think we are all happy chappies

So let's try and narrow it down. Among other features the silver daisies give it away as alpine. I'm making a few assumptions - it's in NSW so likely in KNP, the river may be either the Snowy or the Thredbo. I can't see any dominant peaks, unless they're hidden. Maybe somewhere above the Thredbo River Valley. Chimneys Ridge area? Otherwise somewhere on the Crummer Spur looking back over the Snowy R towards Illawong Lodge? Probably wrong

Are you near Seamans Hut?

Some good points Eggs, the game is going well and I am having a great time participating, but we have to have some rules to keep the game flowing other wise the game could stall and possibly die, like most who play this game, I could post some photos that are nearly impossible to guess.
Here is another rule.
If no progress is made in 24 hours then the owner of the photo should volunteer some additional clues

So it could be any "mountain" in Vic or NSW... good luck
Tue 17 May, 2011 12:47 pm
No - it won't be any mountain.
There needs to be a fairly extensive and even and gentle high level plateau with a major river in it nearby.
That is why I would have difficulty with Seaman's Hut - in which direction is extensive lower rolling ridges?
But maybe from near Lake Cootapatamba looking southish?
But I have not been there and I suspect the terrain is more rugged than this photo shows.
But can anyone verify that "dubberland" is NSW?

I just checked my photos of the main range and I do not believe it to be there, especially up high, the rocks are different and there are no trees on the Main range except lower down near Charlottes Pass.
There is a strange white object on the ridge line on the left, under close inspection it looks like a house/chalet?
I actually do not think it is in NSW.
