Thanks. I thought I recognised those rocks jutting out into the sea. We crossed them in a fast-rising tide and got a bit wet!

Pink conglomerate, a hydro lake. Are you on the way to Mt Sedgwick?

Very, very close. We started to head to Sedgewick on Tuesday but the heat and the scrub and the lack of views due to smoke got the better of us and we turned back. This is from near the top of an Abel. Now you will know it.

Presumably that's why I didn't recognise it. Tyndall was so totally socked in when I summitted that I tripped over the remains of the trig before I saw them.

Yes, it's from near the top of Mt Sedgewick, looking down at the Camping Cave, used by rock climbers, I presume. We met a couple who had been climbing there and were just about to head off to Cape Hauy.

Have to get back there when the clouds aren't around.
From a different lumpy bit. Which one?

*forlorn sigh*
I've broken it again.
There are other things that share this name. There's a bay, a headland, some other water, a flat open place, all within 20km and all more or less visible from here.

Looking at the big cow from Esperence peak?

Oh, good morning Tasmania.
Yes, as the cloud slowly rolled in and over and down. Luckily it cleared overnight.

Good morning to you too! It's always a bit slower than normal over the weekend.
Great spot that, lots of good camping around there. Here's the next one from a few summers ago now.

Gotta love those sandstone outcrops.
A little bit of zoom in this one.

I'm climbing an Abel using a route not described in the Abels book.

Mt Shakespeare?
Wed 22 Jan, 2020 9:33 am
Close, but not the right answer.
Wed 22 Jan, 2020 12:21 pm
Wylds Craig?
Wed 22 Jan, 2020 12:29 pm
I'm north of both guesses so far.
Wed 22 Jan, 2020 12:30 pm
Hobhouse?
Wed 22 Jan, 2020 1:04 pm
I think NNW probably has it but I'll throw in Wentworth hills just in case

Yep, approaching Hobhouse from the east.

How much of that ridge did you cover? It looks like it would be fun to explore the whole thing, but there's a lot of bauera on it lower down.

Not all that much of it actually! From the end of the old forestry road I worked my way up before crossing over Coxs Creek and heading roughly SW towards the top. The blue 'X' is where the photo was taken.

Ah, that's almost exactly the way I went back down, from memory.

Clue time.. There's a named summit behind that pointy thing.

Looks an awful lot like the area north of Flame Peak. Were you returning from Innes High Rocky?
