Ok you seem to be looking down at Girdwood Airport on a trail heading up towards Chillkoot knoll . Perhaps the Alyeska North Face Trail as it seems to have a series of tortuous switchbacks to begin with.

Yes Greg. I'm climbing the last section of the North Face Trail, which is where all those switchbacks are.
Overlooking Moose Meadows and the little Girdwood Airstrip below.
Chillkoot Knoll is one of the features around the glacier bowl below Alyeska Peak, but no hiking trail to there AFAIK.
Warning signs about crevasses when you follow other trails up to the glacier.

Hint: The hills in the picture are pretty well known and the village has a quite impressive Bhuddist Temple.

Well that's Ama Dablan on the right. (and possibly the summit of Everest behind the ridge on the left) So from memory you are probably at Tengboche. Many years ago I spent 3 or 4 days there recovering from altitude sickness.

'm standing outside the Tenboche Monastery waiting for it to open. From right to left you are looking at Ama Dablam, Lhotse (under cloud) and Everest peeking above Nuptse.

Without some more specific clues it seems to me it could be any of a dozen or so western USA states. Narrowing it down. Are you somewhere in Arizona?

This has been a tough one but I think I have it now (hopefully!). Without the Colorado clue had no chance.
I only honed in after getting lucky matching the loco colour scheme in the second photo to the Leadville, Colorado & Southern Railroad. According to an article I found it operates from Leadville "on a route that rises over 1,000 feet from the Arkansas River Valley, travels through Freemont Pass and provides for views of Colorado's two largest mountain peaks, Mt. Massive and Mt. Elbert".
They offer locomotive cab (and caboose) rides although no mention anywhere on the internet that you can ride any loco anywhere outside, though obviously it's possible.
Ironically I've done a couple of train trips in Colorado myself, up Pikes Peak on the cog railway, and we took the California Zephyr overnight from Denver to San Francisco through the Rockies. Both were spectacular.

The locomotive is passing through the San Isabel National Forest. (I can't edit the caption on the original photo because it is past the editing window.)
