I thought from High Dome?

That makes more sense. But I'm doing well to recognise Pyramid straight away so it's still a win.

Yes last
PW was way too obvious in the other direction.

Is that St Val's in the distance?
Sat 19 Jun, 2021 11:08 am
I think so
I'll upgrade that to "yes"

I love just throwing out random observations about some of these images. For instance, the foreground scrub looks like the stuff on top of Maurice.

The scoparia is distinctive of higher places
Shall we start the bidding with Beecroft?

Recondite knob?

No, no and no.

Scorparia? What's that....

My first thought was Inglis, but try as I might, I can't make the background fit.
Sat 19 Jun, 2021 2:14 pm
Not Inglis.
There are clues in the picture

Reckon I need to clean my screen to see them.

Kate?
Sat 19 Jun, 2021 2:32 pm
Kate is correct. There are buildings, etc, visible.
Sat 19 Jun, 2021 2:46 pm
Thanks. It's the only flat top I could line up with buildings and a long ridge in front of St Vals.
Now, something a little bit different for a summit marker.

Mount Koonya

Damn, I was hoping that would last a little longer.

Hadn't seen it or anything similar. It piqued my interest so I googled it to death and ended up at the site for the co. that constructed it.
So it's the BOM weather radar (C-band Doppler radar) for Hobart. Similar ones in QLD at Weipa and Mt Isa, and on South Goulburn Island NT.
And the Terrey Hills one up here I use online that looks like a teed up golf ball. Dunno why it never occurs to me to visit some of these things.
And on we go:

Did you check if it was switched on? I'm not sure it works properly.
Hmmm your vague trend continues John.... reminds me a bit of Webster though?

Platypus Bae?

No it doesn't seem to be doing anything. Ours is working though

. Not that it matters, I'm not going anywhere atm.
Testing your knowledge of obscurity Mark

. Not Webster, I'm a fair distance from Mt Field area.
This tarn is unnamed, but very close to one or more things that that are.
Small clue in the background if you can find a wider shot.

No, but you're not too far away.

Is that the little tarn between Shadow and Forgotten? Kind of looks like Little Hugel in the top right corner.

On one of my photos I have it labelled "Tarn near Shadow Lake".
I vaguely thought it was the one shortly before Shadow rather than betwixt them, but we did visit both lakes and Little Hugel.
So I reckon you'll be correct NNW, and if not that's near enough anyway. All yours.
Sun 20 Jun, 2021 2:38 pm
You are right John. 10mins before shadow lake.
Sun 20 Jun, 2021 3:54 pm
Figures. After posting wasn't sure which side of Shadow it was, just know it's the one I've only ever seen frozen.
And while we're talking about things being frozen, where is this?

Reminds of the track near Crater Peak
Sun 20 Jun, 2021 5:13 pm
*tosses coin ... 'is that close enough or not?' *
You lucked out, it came up close enough. The gully crossing between Crater and the track junction.
Sun 20 Jun, 2021 5:22 pm
Nice coin.
And nothing wrong with your memory. I have a shot pretty much at the same spot.
I don't often get into the snow in Tas.
