You shouldn't have handed it to me - there were 3 choices, and you could also have been on a peak on the way to Mt Lord.
How long did this walk take?
{For interested readers - Mt Lord is a peak in Mt Field Nat Park right near the northern edge of the park, and Mark's view is south towards Mt Field West.}
This will be a bit harder

It took about 6.5 hrs at a VERY slow pace. Some very nice open rainforest underneat both Lanes peak and Mt Lord.
Hmmm just to start the guesses coming, Looking west from 40lakes peak??
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 2:07 pm
Now that is funny - I was tossing up whether to put up a view over the top of 40 Lakes Peak looking SW, but no, that is not what I chose.
I am not looking over a plateau
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 2:08 pm
I'm gonna take a stab at Mersey Crag looking towards the walls
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 2:28 pm
Not Mersey Crag - I would love to have got there, but we bypassed it.
I am not on the central highlands.
Consider the skyline carefully - there should be some very familiar peaks in it.
And there is something man-made in the valley.
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 2:34 pm
Perhaps from Clumner Bluff?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 2:37 pm
Its not down in the Huon Valley is it? Man made structure being the airwalk?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 2:45 pm
I did this walk a few years back.
Not Clumner Bluff and not near the Huon.
You may detect a lake in the valley....
The key to this is "West", but anyone recognise any peaks?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 2:47 pm
Mt Murchison?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 2:49 pm
You may be looking at the Eldons? With Murchison being the man made thingy??
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 2:52 pm
I think you are looking at the Reserve Peaks, looks like Geryon in amongst the Du Canes there?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 2:55 pm
Well we were eventually zeroing in - and Pazzar has it. Well done.
This was half way up Mt Murchison looking towards the Ducaine Range - Walled - Gould. Pelion East is just on the left with the edge of Pelion West as well.
The lake is the Hydro - Lake Murchison.

Wed 10 Mar, 2010 3:22 pm
Ah that was going to be my next guess..... Well done Frenchie!
Speaking of Adamsons, there was a decent dusting on snow up there today!!
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 3:24 pm
It was definately cold enough. Might have to head back there soon, definately keen for some snow.
