Top of Mt Roland?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:28 pm
Much further south, Sadly the one time i've been on Roland I didnt get much views so I wouldnt know what it was like up there....
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:33 pm
So southwest then - I should have known. Doesn't look familiar, the only peaks I have climbed with a view have been in the Western Arthurs and Hartz area, everything else has been in poor weather. Is it in Mt Field area??
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:35 pm
Hehehe does my name give it away?? Yeh over 75% of my walking is in the SW.
Not Mt Field....
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:36 pm
Definitely looks Frankland's, late afternoon you *&%$#!!
If not, you know what I think!
ie no idea
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:37 pm

Yeh it's in the franks....
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:43 pm
I'll say Double Peak only coz I see 2 peaks?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:44 pm
Not that far along the range, this was night 1 if that'll help you....
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:48 pm
coronation peak or near islet lake. I have never been there, so i'm going by the books to find peaks haha
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:50 pm
Still not that far along! Chapman must have used a helicopter to get to islet lake in the time he suggests......
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:52 pm
I'm pretty sure his times are for absolute freaks - I rarely got close to any of his times. Its not mt sprent?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 7:55 pm
Not Sprent no. I've not had much trouble keeping within his times, especially when not carrying a heavy pack, but his frankland times seemed very odd! On both ends of the scale!
Frankland Saddle to Saddle past Secheron he said 6-8 hrs, we did it in around 2.
But to Islet lake he said 5-7 hrs. We took a day (with a late start) and a half!
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 8:03 pm
I'm out of peaks, so its between Sprent and Islet?
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 8:04 pm
yup! and as theres only 1 peak in that area left, its all yours!
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 8:05 pm
Koruna peak
Wed 10 Mar, 2010 8:07 pm
thats it mate well done!

Not sure how familiar you are with this part of the state. A bit hazy but you should be able to get the general area pretty quickly.

with all the farms below i originally thought gog range but it seems to far to the coast. and that appears to be table cape in the background but i dont know any hills that close, so going off google earth is it Mount Housetop (never heard of it)
Edit: in the unlikely event that i am correct someone else can post an image as i am out of the office for most of the day.
Thu 11 Mar, 2010 8:39 am
I also have never heard if mt housetop, let alone climb it
Thu 11 Mar, 2010 1:19 pm
Is it the Dial Range?
cheers
Peter
Thu 11 Mar, 2010 1:26 pm
Sure is, which peak though?
Thu 11 Mar, 2010 3:26 pm
Gee the game has slowed;
I think theres only 2 or 3 peaks in the Dial range isn't there:

Thu 11 Mar, 2010 3:31 pm
There is only 4 major peaks. Only one has a view westward
Thu 11 Mar, 2010 4:06 pm
I thought the landscape looked familiar. I don't remember looking west from one of the Dial peaks though, so I'll guess the only one I haven't been up which is also the closest one to the coast - Mt Montgomery.
Thu 11 Mar, 2010 4:08 pm
Not Montgomery
Thu 11 Mar, 2010 4:33 pm
Hard to tell with that much zoom. The Gnomon?
Thu 11 Mar, 2010 4:44 pm
Not the gnomon. Not many choices left now
Thu 11 Mar, 2010 4:58 pm
Mt Dial
Thu 11 Mar, 2010 5:01 pm
Nope - Mt Dial is barely even a mountain, its just a lump with trees on it. Only one more major peak left though
