Reminds me of the Tahitian islands, especially Moorea and Bora Bora. But I'm inclined to think it may be somewhere in Fiji?

Fiji is the only Pacific islands I got to John.
Any thoughts on which one?

I thought that was the case but I think your Fiji experience is broader than mine.
I've not been there but my analysis is telling me it could be Waya Island in the Yasawa group?

Waya is correct - looks fantastic as we sailed past.

Despite the indigenous cultural significance and appearance, this is very urban.

And I'm in British Columbia, if that helps.

I think I saw something like this in a doco I watched on Stan, can't recall where it was located though.

Correct Last, at Brockton Point. We had lunch and a nice wander around Stanley Park in the rain.
I didn't realise that the nine totem poles, mainly from other parts of Canada, are BC's most visited tourist attraction.

Thanks John. When I did a search for totem poles a picture came up that was very similar to yours. Next. Europe.

Looks a lot like Skafafell. Perhaps one of the tracks on the "plateau" looking to the west but can't pick the actual track. Am I close?

more than close enough wobbly. On the plateau above Skaftafell. I couldn't say exactly which track myself without searching for my map. looking west at the huge glacier whose name I can't pronounce.

Thanks Last
Wonder when travel to Iceland will be possible again.

Next where in the USA are these switchbacks?

Thanks wobbly, that image compels a visit should it ever become possible.
The contrast between rock, sand and trees is striking.

A question please John: I think I can see what you are looking at but are you in Alberta or BC?

I'm in Alberta Greg. There is a significant visual clue in the photo detail.

Looks remarkably like the Lake Louise Chateau.

Right general part of the world but that's not the Lake Louise Chateau.
We spent a night at Lake Louise (albeit not at the Chateau) just before coming to this locale.
The name of the river valley or any of the surrounding mountains will do.

I think you are looking at Mt Rundle and Banff Springs, if correct you could be somewhere near Mt Galatea or thereabouts. Or not. Maybe.

I can see a few peaks in B.C. that could be right but you say you are in Alberta.

It appears to be Banff from the Hoodoos/ Tunnel Mountain Trail - Bow River in view.

Spray River maybe, looking at Bow River valley.

Yes Greg, Mt Rundle and Banff Springs is spot on. The historic Banff Springs Hotel in the distance (now the Fairmont Banff Springs).
For this game you don't need to specify where I am to win, but I'm at Hoodoos Viewpoint overlooking the Bow River Valley.

Re: Game: Where-is-it? (international)

Tue 27 Oct, 2020 9:40 pm

Thanks John. The historic Banff Springs Hotel was pretty obvious, I just couldn't work out the view point, hence my question re Alberta or BC. But as you have correctly pointed out, the latter information is not required in this quiz.
Now to rummage through my limited album of international pictures. Stand by.
