With the angle and height, maybe you were at Nangkartshang Gompa?
Thu 19 Aug, 2021 7:50 am
No Graham I'm not there. This is not the only game pic posted from this spot all be it in a different direction.
Thu 19 Aug, 2021 9:52 am
I have no idea so I'll guess Luri Peak.
Thu 19 Aug, 2021 12:50 pm
I'm sorry this has proved so hard I thought it would be easy even if i did crop an obvious/giveaway feature. Both Gs have post pics from near or at this spot.
Some maps show Cholatse as Arakam Tse if that helps.
Thu 19 Aug, 2021 3:39 pm
I wouldn't have thought this but I just found an almost identical pic claiming to be taken from Gokyo Ri. Appears you cropped the blue lake out.
As I never made it there I wouldn't really have a clue.
Thu 19 Aug, 2021 5:55 pm
Hi Greg
Yes its Goyko Ri.
I'll get back in my box now.
Thu 19 Aug, 2021 9:13 pm
Thanks wobbly.
hope your enjoying your box. I'm currently locked down in a cage, so a box sounds somewhat pleasant by comparison.
Turns out I had similar pictures of those 2 mountains taken from the ridge above Macchermo last year in -15C and wind running at about 110kts. coldest I've ever been. Must have shut the mountains out of mind ...
Anyway, lets get to something easier just for a change of pace.
this ones also i9n ASIA- who would have guessed.
Taken from my bedroom window last year early in the morning. The subjects are obvious but where was I.
Room number optional.

you are in nepal?
Fri 20 Aug, 2021 8:06 am
Tengboche.
Not sure where you were, but my wife was mostly in that bakery.
Fri 20 Aug, 2021 11:10 am
KeithJ is the winner.
I was in the Tengboche Tea House staring down the Khumbu valley at Everest and Lhotse being lit up in gold by the morning sun. Sadly the bakery was closed due to winter lack of crowds - I would have spent time in there too had it been open.
sorry to Icefest- yes Nepal but Keith is spot on.

No not Hawkshead.
More like responsible pet ownership 4 legged bird scary.
Sat 21 Aug, 2021 8:27 pm
Of course, it's Catbells. Even looks like it.

well, to be fair, what else can Catbells look like but itself?
So Mr Ribuck has the floor.

Well, I was previously trying to make it look like Hawkshead

Anyway, this one is also in the UK. The summit is just behind me; you can name that summit or anything that's in view.

OK. The walker looks like a Jenny.
Mon 23 Aug, 2021 9:12 am
Have you decided to go a ways past Catbells to High spy and look at Great Gable and Scafell Pike. Why is the person running from you?

The walker's sister is actually a Jenny, not that it will help you much.
GregR wrote:Have you decided to go a ways past Catbells to High spy and look at Great Gable and Scafell Pike.
Nope! It's not in England.
GregR wrote:Why is the person running from you?
We occasionally broke into a run on the downhill bits, because we were doing a 46km day. Our route was coast-to-coast.

The biggest cliffhanger of the week has been resolved.
Thanks NNW for making my weekend.

I'll bite. You have just left the summit of Glyder Fawr in Wales.

No, but we were not far away.
Tue 24 Aug, 2021 11:13 am
I originally thought the top of Snowdon and changed my mind, so in utter covid lockdown desperation ( normally called boredom) I'll go backwards and submit Snowdon.
Tue 24 Aug, 2021 5:06 pm
That's correct GregR, we had just left the summit of Snowdon. Because the weather was idyllic, there was a massive queue for the summit. And yet, leaving the summit heading south on the Rhyd Ddu path, there was no-one else, as they had all come from the north, west or east. Our "coast-to-coast" walk was 46km from Caernarfon to Penrhyndrudaeth, where we arrived after dark and at low tide, which was rather unsatisfactory as we were unable to touch the water which was a looooong way out but we did identify the high tide mark.
