Not quite. But, as yesterday was Sunday, I went to church.

Cathedral Peak?

Yep, over to Tyreless.

For something different… Name the country.
(Note for pedants: I know the rules say to nominate the continent, but I am only after the name of the country, so nominating the continent would make it too easy).

Vietnam?

Nothing "maybe" about it. I really thought this would take longer to guess.
It's Asahigoya Hut near Mt Asahi. Lots of great walking in Japan.

Oh is that so? Seems interesting and diverting, so what country is this then?

Papua New Guinea?

I don't think there are many dual-pitch roofs in PNG so I'll guess Canada.
Wed 27 Jul, 2022 7:54 am
Sorry John, not PNG. You are getting warm Ribuck, you are in the right hemisphere.

South Korea?
Wed 27 Jul, 2022 3:15 pm
Not South Korea either. I have to admit that the building by the lake shore is atypical of this country - yes, that's why I chose it

This country is a Kingdom or at least a part thereof (I think the last unsucessful claim to the throne was made in the 1980s by a certain high ranking military officer).
Wed 27 Jul, 2022 3:26 pm
Myanmar?

Ooops, my bad, it was actually the 1970s according to Wiki.

Elderly bushwalkers might just remember a song by The Corries about this lake.

Scotland?
Thu 28 Jul, 2022 3:33 pm
Congratulations John, it is indeed Scotland, home to Loch Tay as pictured and a country claimed as his kingdom by Field Marshall President Sir Idi Amin Dada VC MC CBE etc. I have awarded you a virtual haggis in recognition of your determination and perseverance. Just wondering: is W a Scottish name?

You may be on to something Greg, I humbly accept the virtual haggis. I'd slice it open with my virtual claidheamh-mòr but that might be overkill. Slàinte Mhath!
Let's go to NZ:

- Arrow River Walk, Arrowtown via Queenstown, Otago New Zealand

I thought someone else might jump in but looks not. I believe this is in Namche Bazaar, Nepal at the statue of the renowned Tenzing Norgay GM OSN.
Mon 01 Aug, 2022 5:02 pm
Well John, it seems you are pretty much on the money.
It is indeed the Tenzing Norgay statue with the somewhat ironic caption "Do not climb" emblazoned on it, and the scene of his fame in the background (sorta- I think I just managed to cut Everest out of the background))
Yet again it is Johns go.
Tue 02 Aug, 2022 11:31 am
Thank you Mr Greg, I wondered if Everest was there somewhere.
This one is a bit too obscure/remote for accuracy, so just name the US state where I was canoeing:

- Lake canoeing inland from Ketchikan, Alaska USA
