The wrong approach - he took his lady friend up there on an outing... it did not end well.

Well, she's still with me so didn't end up all that bad, she just won't ever come off-track walking with me again :(
I did take her along the Dial range / Mt Duncan last weekend (on very good tracks) which she thoroughly enjoyed :D

Brian - we went up from almost directly under the summit, parking just behind the "cafe" in Linda & following the road over 2 bridges (Linda Creek).
We managed to pick up a very old road part of the way up then off-track; generally pretty easy off-track if you're used to it.
On the return leg we cut across east (probably too low) to the creek which was bound by some heavier scrub (Bauera etc), we then hit the very open spur to descend. It was about 4.5 hours return but would probably take my usual team 3.5 or less? (no offence to my beautiful girlfriend, she was just out of her comfort zone is all).

Below is a mud map.
Pink line is ascent, blue line is descent.
We had originally planned to do Owen but were denied access due to Telstra work on the towers - another time for that one.

thanks stu
I have never been up Owen. There is an old railway line that you can see that works its way all the way around it and behind to the side facing Sedgewick.
I have wondered about using it to go up Sedgewick - although I think if the Lake Margaret walk has been opened to the public again it would be the better route.

Owen is very easy and also much higher. Do I presume the weather was a contibuting factor to the enjoyment or lack of it?

Presuming that I am correct I'll put another one up to get the game moving again.

If you pick the peak in the centre the rest is easy.

I am scratching my head here.
We have Mt Rogoona and the orientation seems to be in line with the Lake Bill approach - which would imply this is over Lake Rowallan.
But it seems strange how the valley seems to drop away behind the lake? Is this an optical illusion?

It is Rogoona and surrounds viewed across Lake Rowallan. I think we can see a bit of the western bank.

No unfortunately, it’s not from this year, it was from the 2007 season.

and yes walkinTas got it right.

Hopefully Tassie has picked up some snow while it dumped on the main Range this last week.

Next one - looking for a named location close by: [there is also a small "wheres wally" in this - with reference to a thing rather than a person]

Are you near Pumphouse Point on Lake St Clair, looking to Rufus/Hugel/Lil Hugel?
Have been out to Pumphouse Point a couple of times and can't quite remember this aspect but there you go, I'm at work and have no pics to cross-reference on me :(
There appears to be a 'wally' floating in the lake and the visitor centre on the banks.....

It's quiet and this is a tad difficult, though you are close.
The pump house is directly across the bay from here.
This is a point just out (west) from the Frankland Beaches. [Edit - the map indicates this is in the middle of the beaches as they appear to be a series]
From here we are looking towards the visitor centre - but it is hidden.
What you can see is the ferry at dock and if you are really discerning - the sign next to the boat ramp.

But close enough - so over to you

Yeah could tell it was thereabouts but wasn't too sure, I always head out to this spot, there is a magnificent snow gum across the road from the Frankland beaches.
I guess I am usually admiring the tree rather than the view west from the beach.
Heres an easy one with an equally short walk involved.....

Very light dusting overnight in Miena; will probably be gone by lunch time though.

Yeah I agree... I think that small island is Elephant Rock... Been a while but i was a field aid for some mutton bird research on Courts Island (and a few other places on Bruny) and this really rings a bell... That would make the distant peak Adamsons Peak I guess...

Cape Bruny it is, with the famous lighthouse behind, just a beautiful spot.
I took a walk to the little beach in view and around the headland, highly recommended. So lucky to get to places like this as a daytrip from home with the family, and how about those peaks in the distance.....
