That's the one Tom, walked down there from Meryla Pass. An eerie place with all the drowned trees. Your go.

Lake Yurrunga? Which part?

About 1.5km north of Beehive Point. Accessed via the old overgrown FT that veers right off Meryla Pass Trail (Timealong Trail?), it's the southern end of that.
Shown as a circuit on the Bundanoon topo. I once tried to find my way via the western side but eventually it became so overgrown we retreated, plus attacked by a stinging plant in the dense scrub. Saw stars for hours :(.

Here's one from NSW. There's three (named) mountains visible in this picture. What are they?

To narrow it down Tom, is this somewhere in the Gardens of Stone NP???

I think the three mountains are Mt McLean, Mt Jamison and Mt Davidson.

I have had great fun researching this 'where is it', some stunning country.

You've got them all Tony. From the left, Mt Davidson, Mt Jamison and Mt McLean, viewed from the cliffs above Baal Bone Gap. This photo is from the same trip as the 2010 Australian Photo of the Year

And yes Melinda, it's in the Gardens of Stone NP - I figured I'd give people a chance to get it first before I gave any hints.

Thanks Tony. Just a bit of methodical research as I haven't been there. I guessed the general area and went up and down the NSW/ACT border identifying potential candidates, then process of elimination.

Next one, name this NSW waterfall.

Kata Tjuta. The gorge. Damn, I can never remember its name . . . Wardla, something like that . . . I should go and get the maps out and check it, shouldn't I?

edit: blast it, I can't find anything online that has the proper name, everything still seems to refer to it as 'Olga Gorge', and that name was superseded ages ago.

I was only after Olga Gorge - but it turns out you are right. It is now called Walpa Gorge
Close enough - so you can have it.
But I thought you were off walking?

Amazing place to stand right between the towering walls of course red conglomerate.

No, I was just expecting to be in bed by now.

Yeah, that's one of the most amazing places in the Territory. At the right time of day the sunlight reflects back and forth off the rocks and they just glow the most stunning deep red/orange colour . . . and the reflections in the pools if there's water . . . first time I was there was before it was handed back to the Anangu, there was sod all vegetation in the gorge itself, and we climbed right up to the top of it. You can't do that any more, it's too scrubby - quite part from the cultural issues.

Right, I'm going back to the campsite theme: where is my tent parked, and what's the name of the summit with the nearest trig? It is in the shot.
Ohhh, and by the way, I'm in NSW.

Hmmmm, no nibbles yet. Maybe I should drop a clue or two . . .

Not a tracked area, but easy walking, and close to roads so no need to rush.
There is a rebuilt hut nearby, but it's a terrible thing and I really couldn't bear staying in it, if you get my drift.

Could you be near Boobee hut which is near Far Bald Mountain/Vale Trig.

Re: Game: Where-is-it (Aussie)

Well, you're in the right National Park . . . but it's closer to the other end of the K2K run.

You have to read the clues the right way.

Bit of a wild guess here.....
Brassy's on the left, Tin Hut on the right up in the trees, Jagungal to the north???

Re: Game: Where-is-it (Aussie)

Tue 19 Apr, 2011 8:47 pm

OK, It could be Whites River Hut and according to my measurements, the nearest trig is SMA 0112 near the Granite Peaks, this is slightly closer than Dicky Cooper Bogong.

Neither of you has it, still the wrong side of the road.

I'm not far - as the crow flies - from 'civilisation'.

You're still many miles off target.
Odd, as I really thought this one would be easy.

Go back to the first set of clues and read them carefully. The answer is in there. And if no-one gets it before I'm packed up tonight, I'll give it away to let the game continue over Easter, as I won't be back online for a week.
