Euroka campsite

Postby Tantell » Tue 02 Jul, 2013 9:23 pm

Hi, I am planning my first overnight bushwalk from Glenbrook and camping at the Euroka clearing. It says that there is water available at the start of the park, but I wanted to check if this is at the start of the campsite, or further 'back down the road'? Obviously want to get the water thing right on my first trip.
Great forum guys

Hi, thanks for that. How far would that be from the campsite itself?

Cheers

Had a great trip (apart from a sprained ankle on the way home).

An update- there is a water tap at the campground- just need to boil/treat it first, and even though the website specifically says to bring your own firewood- there actually was a wood store there.

Lovely spot

We stayed in Bennets Ridge- a complete guess, but all have access for vehicles, and pit toilets. I liked Bennets Ridge as it was the farthest from the others and pretty quiet.

What about the walk? Can any of you describe the level of difficulties to walk there from Glenbrook Station? A mate told me it is a hard grade because of the many hill climbs. Really?

I usually park just inside the park at the entrance station. From there I'd rate the walk as dead easy. But depends on which way you choose to get there. I have often walked down the bush track into the gorge then crossed Glenbrook Creek and ascended on an old vague route to Tunnel View lookout (strenuous but not especially difficult - some mild exposure). Then downhill on dirt roads and bush tracks into Euroka. But the most direct walking route is simply steeply down the road to the causeway, steep climb up the road on the other side then taking the bush tracks across and down to Euroka. This is a car camping area anyway and the road goes directly there so walking isn't strictly necessary, if you have transport. Otherwise you'd need to add walking from the railway station.
